London day 4

Hey guys! Sorry about the lack of card/ craft postings, but I'll be in London for another couple of days, then I'll be off to Paris. But I'll be posting about my day to day adventures here in Europe.

Well the hubby and I had another very very busy day (ended up with new   blister....ouch). We went to the Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards.

Then we walked beside the palace to the Queen's Gallery. There the Queen keeps royal paintings and works of art safe for the public to see.

Here's a pendant that was given to the Queen as a present.

Then we went to the National Gallery to look at paintings by our favourite artists   Leonardo Da Vinci, Renoir, Monet, Rembrandt and Van Gogh.

Finally, we had dinner and I had another traditional english dish called the British beef pie - (Tender pieces of pulled british beef and red wine gravy, in shortcrust pastry, served with garden peas and your choice of buttery mash) and the hubby had Thai green chicken curry - (Chicken breast pieces, with pak choi, green peppers and spinach, in a rich thai-flavoured curry sauce, finished with coconut cream).

Both were from the same restaurant we went to the day before yesterday called the slug and lettuce. Both dishes were so yummy we keep going back there.

If you guys ever come to London, I would definitely suggest this restaurant. It's really good. Well until tomorrow then.

London day 3

Hey all!!! Well I'm happily exhausted and my feet are throbbing again today, but it's because the underground tube system here in London is not working. All the tube staff is on strike for 2 days. :( the traffic is so heavy, it's so hard to get around. Anywho... Our sunny humid day started at St. Paul's Cathedral :)

The hubby and I didn't get to have any breakfast because our hop on hop off bus was 45 minutes late. (I think tomorrow we're going to do the other HOHO (hop on hop off) company, because "the original tour" wasn't that great.) So we decided to grab some fish and chips in front of The Tower of London, before going into the tower. I didn't think the fish was that great but it was only £7.

Here's some pics from outside and inside the Tower of London, as well as the Crown Jewels.

After, we went to Westminster Abbey

And then we walked all the way to see the prime minister of England  at Downing Street.

Finally, we ended up having "take away" (that's how the British say take out) from Ned's Noodle Bar! It was really good! Better than the fish and chips we had for lunch. Hope you all had a fantastic day too!! See you all tomorrow for day 4 :)

London day 2

Wow!!! My feet are throbbing. Did lots of walking today. I can't believe how many places I'm excited to see in London.
The hubby and I decided to start of the morning having a traditional English breakfast at the Slug and Lettuce... And wow we got a deal for them, 50% off your whole meal. So we got both giant plates for £7.45.

Right after we decided to ride the London Eye before it the rain began to sprinkle. We had to hop into these glass passenger capsules while it was still moving and the we went up 135m!! I was kinda scared. Hehehe

We then decided to do a hop on hop off tour called "the original tour - London sightseeing" and head over to theBritish  museum :) because it was so sunny and humid this afternoon the hubby and I ended up buying ice cream cones and eating them in front of the museum.

After, we hopped on the bus over to Westminster abbey, the Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament to enjoy the bells ringing.

For supper, I decided to have another traditional English dish tonight - Cottage Pie (Minced beef with carrot, leek, onion and red wine, topped with a cheesy mash and served with garden peas and ciabatta) and the hubby had chicken tikka makhani  (Chicken breast pieces, in a creamy lentil, spinach & cashew nut curry sauce)

We also went back to M&S simple food (marks and Spencer's) and bought a pack of these chocolate sponge cake rolls, filled with chocolate and dipped in chocolate!!! Omg!!! It's amazing!!!

Anywho.... That's all for now everyone!

Keep calm and go to London - day 1

Hey all!
I'm so excited to say the hubby and I just arrived in London, England! We're celebrating our 3rd year wedding anniversary here :) here's a picture of our hotel... It's right beside the London Eye!

But before we ended up in London we had a stop over at Minneapolis, Minnesota :) such polite people over there.

View of Minneapolis, Minnesota from my plane window.

Anywho, here's a little tip if you ever decide to vacation in London... Don't take the taxi from Heathrow airport to central London. Take the train/ Underground tube instead. We were told the taxi ride would cost us between £85-100 because of the traffic. So we took the express tube to Paddington station and only paid £42. Then took a taxi ride from Paddington to the London eye for £20. Also our taxi cab driver gave us good tips! He said not to pay more than £5 for a decent breakfast or lunch... But expect to pay more for supper. Another tip a patient told me was to grab cheap sandwiches and drinks at the M&S (Marks and Spencer's) grocery store, most of the food were under £2 or were 3 for 2.

Note: my hubby ate one of the giant tubs of yogurt already. The strawberry and cream yogurt flavour tasted a whole lot better than the honey and ginger.

While at the Waterloo underground station we also went to their local beauty and pharmacy shop called "Boots" and I bought a few makeup products we can't get in Canada. Everything was 3 for 2!!

Finally we headed over to Cucina cafe and restaurant in front of our hotel and ordered some bangers and mash :)
Well that's all for now folks! I'll be blogging about my day to day trip here in London for the next 5 days and then we're off to Paris and Amsterdam :)
